Hi. Today I'm reviewing Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett. I love this book.
I love everything by Terry Pratchett that I've read so far. And it's about how the eighth son of an eighth son tries, well, the eighth son tries to pass on the powers of a wizard to an eighth son, I think. Anyway, the eighth son of an eighth son is in there somewhere, and he tries to pass on his wizard powers to his son being born, but actually it turns out to be his daughter, so she becomes a wizard and she has her own wizard staff and everything. And, boy, is it cool.
Anyway, really interesting read. You get to meet Granny Weatherwax, who is really cool and she's a witch, and so there's this whole debate over whether a woman can be a wizard or if she must be, if anything, a witch, I suppose. And well, yeah, feminism and all that kind of stuff gets in there. And I think he does quite well. I think he does it well. I mean, consider everything that people assume about male and female stuff.
He was a wonderful satirist and a wonderful writer, and his stories are always engaging and how can you say no to an orangutan librarian? Ook. That's how I guess. Anyway, great stuff. Love him. Terry Pratchett. Always a fun read. And with that, I'll just say thanks for watching.
I'm also in the midst of reading this very, very interesting story, very engaging. Kind of makes Alexander Hamilton sound a bit manic-depressive, if you ask me, but maybe he was. But I really am enjoying this one and I'm thinking back to when, years ago I read Gore Vidal's Burr and trying to remember the way he depicted the founding fathers in that book compared to the way they're depicted here. Hard to remember exactly, but very different as I recall. Anyway, that's all I had to say. So till next time, be seeing you. Thanks.
