Hi everyone. Well, my two biggest tasks right now, my two biggest concerns are one, to get ready to make my second short film, and two, to release the print version of my latest novel, Past Imperfect. It’s up on Amazon [and Barnes & Noble and Kobo] now. I published it through PublishDrive and was able to get it on Amazon that way. So there’s no reason to go through KDP or deal with Amazon directly. So having said that, Amazon has called it the PublishDrive Edition. Okay, whatever you want to call it. It’s still there, whatever it is. PublishDrive edition or first edition, whatever you want to call it.
The first print edition should hopefully be out soon. I’m still waiting for the formatted file. I don’t particularly like the way Vellum does stuff. I’m willing to use Vellum for eBooks, but I don’t particularly like their print set up. It looks ever so slightly unprofessional, unless you’re good at doing things like inserting pages here and there and know where to insert them. And I just don’t really want to deal with that. I would rather outsource that to somebody else. That’s just plain fact. And so I am waiting on that file.
But having said that, I mean, I’m feeling more optimistic that we can actually do this film on September 1st, because for a while there I wasn’t sure I had a 1st AD. And not having a 1st AD, if you’re a newbie director like me, that’s just courting disaster when you’re working on a film with this many people. And it’s not that many people. It’s like a crew of four or five, depending on who you count. And I think there’s like four or five department heads. I’m not counting. I’m not going to do that. I have a set decorator helping me out. I’ve got a set to set up, a dorm room. And so we’ve been preparing for that and been doing a lot of buying from Walmart lately.
